I committed to Hope College on January 17, 2015 at the Hope College vs. Calvin College game!

Everyone kept asking, WHY I chose Hope College over my other DI options...

What I was looking for in a college:

1)      Teammates to be focused on earning an education.

2)      A proven track record of players being successful in the “real world” after basketball.

3)      Allowing me to pursue my major, Kinesiology.

4)      A coaching staff that places educational goals first.

5)      A Christian Liberal Arts College.

6)      Smaller enrollment/class sizes.

7)      A beautiful campus that I would be proud to say is my home.

8)      To play for a winning basketball program, in an excellent basketball arena, with a nice fan base, where I knew the coach would be there for my 4 years.

9)      Play for a coach with similar beliefs to the ones I share with my parents.

10)     Involved in giving back to the community.

In Hope College, I found all of these and more! Hope College is truly second to none. Holland, MI is ranked as one of the safest city in the nation. Coach Brian Morehouse has been the Head Coach at Hope for 19 years and is a former Hope grad. Over the last 10 seasons, his winning percentage is over 92%, and they are in the running for an NCAA National Championship EVERY year! Hope is number 1 in attendance EVERY year; they have won 2 NCAA DIII National Championships, and hosted 4 NCAA DIII Final Fours! I loved that they are so deeply involved with Special Needs youth and adults. I LOVE working with a Special Needs group doing basketball skills training every Tuesday. I guess at this point you might have figured out that I’m 100% sold on my new home; Hope College.

Thanks again,

Celina King:  Asian-American Basketball Player

Welcome to my website! This is where I talk about my favorite thing...BASKETBALL!

I have pictures and videos about basketball that I put here to show you what I have done.

When I go to a camp or work with a special trainer, I try to get pictures and videos and post them here.

I'm a 16 year old Asian-American living in Cincinnati, Ohio. My mother was born and raised in Singapore along with her entire family. My dad was born in Corbin, Kentucky where Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) opened it's first restaurant.

My parents have always push my sister and I to focus first on education and then sports! I have been HomeSchooled since fifth grade. I was full-time HomeSchooled from fifth through eighth grade and have been splitting time with classes at a school and HomeSchool since then.

To be an Asian-American basketball player in the United States is a really a rare thing. To give you an idea, In NCAA DI Men's Basketball there were 5,380 men's basketball players last season, ONLY 15 were Asian-American... that's FIFTEEN!!! We are talking about 0.2 percent of ALL DI  players! So that places me in the SMALLEST minority in the country!

I love playing ball and I owe it all to my dad who got me started when I was really little.  Thanks to all my other coaches and wonderful players that I have met and worked with.  A lot of people say that I’m good but I think I need a lot of work.  I work hard everyday and I love my trainers.
