BORDER BATTLE- OGBR VS MGBR

Border Battle / OGBR vs. MGBR        Sun 7/31

I was excited to be picked as one of the top girls in Ohio to play in OGBR / MGBR Border Battles. I played in 3 games and I was teamed up with Tierra Floyd. We were both picked as DABBS OGBR MVPs by Jim Dabbelt of The Dabbelt Report;jimdabbelt.wordpress.com .

The Dabbs Awards will go to the Camp MVP in each age group.  Again, this has nothing to do with their selections, but ya know, us media people always have “teams”, so why not?  This was not based on who the college coaches were talking about, or who made the all-star games…just the distinction.

2014 MVP- This was a tough call, after watching many of the games, my pick goes to Alyssa Rice 6’3″ from Reynoldsburg.  This kid can do it all, and looks to even get better.  She was the best freshman in the gym in these old eyes.  Also really liked Amanda Cahill, Jenna Gunn, Alexa Hart, and maybe the sleeper of the class, Ana Richter of Oxford Talawanda.

2015 MVP- Really, in my opinion, all three of these were legit picks.  The kid who I selected is Tierra Floyd 6’1″ Toledo Notre Dame Academy.  After talking to various people, everyone loves this kid.  Can play four positions, and do it all.  Can score, great passer, defends anyone, and is very athletic.  The best incoming freshman in Ohio…period.

2016 MVP- It’s no secret I think this kid can play, and she put on a show at the evaluation night on Tuesday from what I was told.  Celina King is a 5’3″ PG from Landmark Christian in Cincinnati, and is advanced on many point guards her age.  Great handles, can stroke the 3, great court awareness.

USJN Bowling Green State University

Played for Ladies First, in both the 17U & 14U division. Had a ton of games Fridays and played really well in front of a lot of coaches. We did well and I played a ridicules amount of minutes. I started most the games and had a couple where I played the entire game. It was an amazing experience! Thank you Ortney and EVERYBODY!!!

CATHY RUSH CAMP GWYNEDD MERCY COLLEGE, PA

When I walked thru the doors to check in, the coaches attacked me like I was somebody famous! I love Cathy Rush and ALL the coaches… They make it so much fun to be here and they make everything challenging while you learn. The Might Macs movie will be in theaters in October, it’s the story of Cathy Rush and Immaculata College and how they won the first three women’s nationals championships.  At camp I won the high school 1-on-1 championship and also the 3-on-3 championship… I had lots of fun!

USJN NATIONALS AT WASHINGTON, DC

Coach Ortney Bryant was one of my coaches the past 2 years at OGBR, and he asked if I would play for his team in DC & Bowling Green. Played for Ladies First in the 17U Gold bracket, it was the top bracket below Platinum. We had a ton of coaches at our games and I had a great time. I even got a chance to start. Played lots of minutes and the girls were all really nice & good players. The only thing Coach Ortney yelled at me for, was not shooting enough. He gave me the green light to shoot every time the ball touched my hands. 

Battle in the Boro

Was a great event with lots of college coaches present at several games. We played 3 great games and played 2 embarrassing games. Even with those 2 games, we were in a 3 way tie for second place and we lost the chance to continue. The sad part is the team that continued was a team we had beaten. But to be honest, we should have been undefeated.

AAU National with the Angels

Went to Clarksville, TN to help the Angels at the AAU Nationals. I had played with them in a GBA tourney in June in Cincinnati and we went undefeated and won that championship. The crazy thing was that I left right after my final game with Cincinnati’s Finest 15U in Murfreesboro on the 15thand sped  to Clarksville to help the Angels beat a team and take 7th place in the nation (they only had 6 kids for the final game, due to a mix-up). I had a great time!

OGBR at Denison University

This is my second year attending Tom Jenkins OGBR Skills Camp. I knew so many coaches, players and counselors.  Last year after the awards ceremony when Tom Jenkins gave away his 6 awards, my dad told me the highest honor you can receive from Tom is “Hardest Worker” award… it’s what OBGR is all about! Well this year on the  final day of camp after Gannon Baker’s presentation, it was time for the awards and I knew I had worked so hard… the very first named Tom called was #22 Celina King for Hardest Worker 2016… I was beyond thrilled because Tom & the Coaches had saw that I gave 100% all day, every day. I knew my dad would be proud and happy what I had just earned!

Aqua-Falls Shootout Exposure Event

What an amazing event… Had the chance to play with some of the best ballers in Dayton and some from Cincy. Everyone played 4 competitive games that day. The event was put on by Jim Dabbelt of The Dabbelt Report.  I had a blast… I WILL DO THIS EVERY YEAR!!!

Tri-Village High School Shootout

We played another 4 great high school teams in 1 day!  We won 2 and lost 2… The 4 high schools we played were: Troy, Russia, Greenon and Tri-Village. All the games were tuff and again it was so nice to play against 4 great teams we would never have the chance to play during our regular Landmark Christian season.

We played 4 great high school teams in 1 day!  We won 2 and lost 2… The 4 high schools we played were: Centerville, Northmont, Beavercreek and Ohio DIII State Champs Anna. All the games were amazing and it was so great to play against 4 great teams that we would never have the chance to play during our regular Landmark Christian season. 

AAU season Cincinnati’s Finest 15U

For spring and summer AAU season, I am playing for the person that trains me 5 or 6 days a week. Carlton Gray (9 years NFL and father of Amber Gray) coaches Cincinnati’s Finest AAU Black U15 team. My teammates will all be juniors next year and are real nice players and welcomed me to the team even though I’m only going into the eighth grade. I love playing up, the players are so much better and the games so much faster… I feel so lucky!

Won GBA State

I got to start five of our six games in the tournament. Jim Dabbelt watched a couple of our games and one game I had some nice assists and a couple steals and didn’t miss a shot until the last 30 seconds of the game, when a floater rolled around the rim and came out. Won the championship in OT against an excellent WV team

OHIO D1 DISTRICTS

Ohio D1 Districts… watched 4 games and had to leave! Mason played so good… several players work out at my gym. NICE JOB Sarah, Briana, Sydney, Sarah, Aly! 

Sycamore and Boro was a battle from the start. Chloe I’m sorry, I love you and you played great! Springboro is just a great team and Jenny DeGraaf is tuff! 

Lakota East and Fairborn was a game… East wins but Pumroy is amazing! Princeton wins as usual… who can stop Kelsey Mitchell???? She kills everybody… nice game!

OHIO D2 DISTRICTS

Ohio D2 Districts… watched 3 great games! Played against a bunch of amazing 8th graders that will be heading to Alter next year… so I’m sure they will be here again! 

Love Coach Scott Rogers and Nicole Bell, sorry you guys lost. Carroll played so strong… Kelly Austria is good! Congrats to CJ, we missed the end because my dad had to take an important business call…it was great meeting Coach Duane Williams. 

Had a couple nice AAU offers tonight… will talk to my dad.

BIG 10 TOURNAMENT

Big 10 Tournament in Indy… watched 2 games! Had so much fun hanging out with Ed Hackney and family… Kendall played so good… 22 points and kept sinking free throws to seal the win! Ed sang at halftime on the score board… it was so funny and I put it on Facebook! Ed, you kill me!!!

1ST YEAR VARSITY STATS

I just found out my first season Varsity High School stats: 

404 points with 72 three pointers... 

MAXPREPS says that I'm in the: 

top 100 with 12.6 points per game and 404 for the season, 

top 10 for 3 pointers with 2.3 per game and 73 for the season, 

top 150 with 2.0 assists per game and 64 for the season, 

top 200 with 1.9 assists per game with 61 for the season, and 

in the top 5,000,000 probably with 2.3 rebounds per game and 74 for the season!.... LOL!!! 

Thank you Carlton Gray for all the time you spent with me working on my game... and watching all of my game videos and texting me every few minutes telling me what I did right and wrong.  Lots of texts on what I did wrong!

You are the BEST and I LOVE YOU!!!!

I honestly can say, if I never play another game, I have had so much fun and have won more trophies than anyone deserves. Thank you EVERYONE for all you’ve done for me!

FINAL GAME & I BROKE THE OLD HIGH SCHOOL 3 PTS RECORD

Final game for the 2010/11 season... it's Senior Night...everybody did well and we won and ended the season 31 and 1. THANK YOU Andrea Hoover, Shannon Morgan, and Michaella Thomas you guys are THE BEST!!!! Thank you Coaches... Dann, Mark, Daniel and Rob for everything you did for me and my team! 

The athletic director announced after the game that I had set a new school record for 3 pointers for a season... the old record was 32 in a season and I had more than doubled it with.... 72 three pointers this season!

ANDREWS TOURNAMENT

We got a surprise from the Principle, Mr Boovee, he is letting us do one final tournament this year At Andrews University in Michigan. Not far from Chicago. We won our first 3 games and Andrea got hurt at the end of the 3rd game with 33 seconds left and couldn't move or talk for about 10 minutes. She tripped and hit her head and neck on the pad on the wall under the basket. The other coach said to just end the game because we were up by 16 points anyway. Their coach was really a super nice guy! Andrea had to go to the hospital and had a mild concussion and had to sit out the next game. Well, we knew we had to play as a team the next game and everybody stepped up and we played amazing and won it for Andrea to put us in the championship. The championship game was great and we actually played so well we had it won in the first half. The crowd has crazy when we won. Our boys team was in the championship game right after us and played their best game all season...Austin had 41, Roland controlled the ball at point and everybody played GREAT... we lost in triple OT!!! 

MET JIM DABBELT

Played Bethel tonight in Tipp City... got to eat at Melodees in New Carlile they have AMAZING chicken wings! It was a really good game and we played hard... their girls played well and were really nice! I was so excited to finally meet Jim Dabbelt of the Dabbelt Report. My dad and I always see him at Classic in the Country and EVERY major girls basketball event. He and Tom Jenkins get so many girls attention here in Ohio. He was so nice and said a lot of really kind things about me to my dad after the game. He even invited to a couple of his events... of course I'm attending! Jim, if you read this THANK YOU!!!!!

ANDREA BROKE 2000 PTS

Andrea BROKE 2,000 points!!!!! WOW met Coach Jabir from University of Dayton. Nice guy, couldn't believe I was only 12... will be visiting UD for some practices & camps! ANDREA YOU ARE AMAZING!!! Coach Jabir you are so lucky get my girl! Don't forget me I dropped 19 tonight... just kidding! It was Andrea's night!

TEXAS

Texas was sooooo much fun... I met so many great people and played in front of BIG crowds. Got to see Casey Lao and all the VGA Texas girls... I LOVE YOU GUYS! I even signed autographs at the tourney... how funny is that! Oh yeah we won it ALL!
