It was such an honor to play last summer with Sports City U for Tom Jenkins’ FINAL season. SCU had the BEST players in the country (all D1 Prospects). We were ranked number 5 in the U17 Elite Top Teams in the nation. The only game we lost to ALL summer was to Tennessee Flight (#1 team in the nation) in quadruple overtime. So I know that no team I pick could ever be at the level we were! All the SCU girls would meet on Fridays and spent the night together as a team, then on Saturday and went home on Sundays. We typically worked out 8 hours on Saturday and then another 8 on Sunday. We had to do conditioning tests (I was always 1st or 2nd ) and shooting tests (always 1st) to earn playing time for Tom Jenkins. Playing with the amazing players on that team and them being so much older than me was tough. The only way I earned respect and playing time was by working harder than anyone thought I could. I absolutely loved playing for Coach Jerry Hester, he is a HOF Coach and the GREATEST coach EVER!
I was exciting to be invited to play for several AMAZING teams, but finally selected a team from my dad’s home state… Kentucky Premier, they are one of only about 20 Nike Elite teams in the nation. Their coaches seem great and I’m excited to play for them. The three main coaches are all Sunday School Teachers, so my parents are thrilled. I’m so ready to get practicing and getting to know everybody. We will be working out at Georgetown College in Kentucky. So it’s not really that far of a drive for us.
The Coaches are great and I just wish we had team practice before we do tournaments. We have tons of talent, but we don’t really know each other. For me it’s been really hard losing to teams we destroyed last year with Sports City U. I’m praying we can get together and practice or scrimmage before we play again.
