My first varsity game as a true freshman… (even though I’ve been playing varsity high school basketball since the 6th grade for non-OHSAA schools). We started off rough and nervous, but at the end of the 2nd quarter we had settled down and played… I hit a 3 at the buzzer to take the lead at half, after being down by 11 earlier in the quarter. At the end of the 4th, with 6 second left in the game, we were down by 2 with 2 of our starters already fouled out... I was fouled, but missed my first free throw and their players and fans were so happy and cheering, at that moment I felt like I had just single-handedly lost the game for us! I hit the 2nd free throw and they called a quick timeout with 6 seconds to go with them leading by 1. Coach told us to foul right away but I knew I had to somehow steal the inbounds pass before they were fouled… To everyone’s surprise their inbounds play went bad and the pass just missed the girl’s fingertips. I grabbed the ball, drove the lane, put up a floater with a defender in my face and scored at the buzzer for the WIN!!!! It was an AMAZING "TEAM EFFORT" to come back and win this game against a DI school. EVERY PLAYER hit key shots and made defensive stops to pull out this come from behind victory to begin the 2012/2013 season! I was fortunate to ended the game with 19 points and hit our final shot.
